Jamaicans call it guinea hen weed or garlic weed, but it is recognized in South America as anamu. This is an herb that is indigenous to the Amazon rainforest and the tropical areas of the Caribbean, Central and South America, and Africa. Anamu extracts may aid with the relieve of pain and inflammation when applied to the skin. Compounds in Anamu might inhibit the growth of several bacteria, viruses and fungi. Interestingly, many medicine experts believe that infection plays a major role in several illnesses.
